The ancient city of Ephesus is one of the most important ancient cities in the world. During the Roman Empire, with a population of 250 thousand and the Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the world, it was a city that people wished to see not only today but also in that period. It was one of the most important trade centers of the ancient world thanks to its sheltered port and many commercial vessels that could enter at the same time.

After Jesus' crucifixion in Jerusalem, Virgin Mary, who came to Ephesus together with John and spent her last years on Bülbül Mountain, made Ephesus reputation as famous. The ancient city of Ephesus, which hosts 3 million visitors a year, has been excavated by the Austrian Archaeological Institute and Turkish archaeologists for 130 years.
